The gist, in three sentences.

  • Pet sitting in Ogden runs $30 to $45 per visit, depending on visit length, with the standard 30-minute visit at $33.
  • A professional company carries insurance, employs a trained backup team, and uses scheduling software with timestamped photo reports. A casual sitter cannot offer those safeguards.
  • For multi-pet households, in-home pet sitting often costs less than boarding once every pet is counted.

You've made your vacation reservations. Flight booked, hotel reserved, rental car waiting. Now comes the part most pet parents put off: figuring out who is going to care for the furry family members while you're out of town.

There are several options. You can ask a family member or neighbor. You can board your pets at a kennel. Or you can hire a professional pet sitter who comes to your home.

Not all pet sitting is the same, and the cost can vary widely. This post focuses on professional pet sitting and what it actually costs in Ogden in 2026.

01Current Pet Sitting Rates in Ogden, Utah (2026)

Away Home & Pet Care charges per visit, not per day. You pick the visit length that fits your pet's routine, and you can mix and match throughout the day.

Visit length Price Best for
20 minutes $30 Quick check-in. Food, water, litter, and a calm presence.
30 minutes $33 Our most popular option. Unhurried food, water, and a proper visit.
45 minutes $39 Extra time for high-energy dogs, senior pets, or pets who need more one-on-one attention.
60 minutes $45 Best for multiple pets or complex routines. Nothing feels rushed.

Almost Overnight service (two evening hours plus one morning hour with your pet) is $125 per night. See our full current pricing page for additional services and holiday rates.

02Why Pricing Varies By Visit Length

The right visit length depends on your pet, not on us. A confident, low-key cat might be perfectly happy with a 20-minute check-in. A high-energy dog who would normally get a long walk in the afternoon needs the 45 or 60-minute option to actually burn off the energy. Senior pets, anxious pets, or homes with multiple pets generally do better with longer visits because there is more to do and the pace stays calm.

Most cats need at least one visit per day. Most dogs need at least two visits per day, and three is the standard recommendation when you are out of town.

03What's Changed in 2026

Our base rate hasn't gone up much over the years, but the work behind it has. Every visit now includes a timestamped photo report sent through the Time to Pet app, GPS-verified arrival and departure, direct messaging with the care team, and same-day responses to questions or schedule changes. Holiday rates apply to twelve specific dates and are always communicated in advance, never as a surprise.

Every team member is a W-2 employee, not an independent contractor or gig worker. They are background-checked, bonded, insured, and Pet CPR and First Aid certified. The price you see covers all of that.

04Licensed, Bonded, Insured

Professional pet sitting companies are licensed, bonded, and insured. That matters more than most pet parents realize. If a casual sitter accidentally lets your dog out and the dog gets into a scuffle with another animal, you are liable. With a professional service that carries appropriate insurance, you are not.

Professional companies in Ogden are also licensed with their local governments and pay business taxes. Most "hobbyist" sitters are not licensed and many do not pay taxes on their income.

05Backup Plans

What happens if a solo sitter gets sick or has an emergency? With a one-person operation, you are stuck. With a professional company, there is always another trained team member available to step in. Your pet's care does not depend on whether one person is having a good day.

06Trained for Emergencies

Every member of our care team is Pet CPR and First Aid certified and trained to recognize common health concerns. If your cat suddenly stops using the litter box, would a casual sitter know that can indicate a urinary issue? If your senior dog seems off, would they know what to look for? That kind of trained eye is part of what you are paying for.

07Pet Sitting vs. Boarding For Multi-Pet Homes

Hiring a professional pet sitter in Ogden, UT is often less expensive than kenneling your pets, especially if you have more than one. Most boarding facilities charge per pet, per night. With in-home sitting, the visit fee covers all the pets in your home.

Beyond the math, your pets stay in their own environment. No transport stress, no exposure to other animals' illnesses, no adjusting to a kennel routine. They sleep in their own beds, eat from their own bowls, and stick to the schedule they already know.
